It grew through intention
Developed in the dark
As a mirror in the water
Distorted bodies, sounds, voices
All kept in
Mind sight and out.
First as a drummer
. playing drums from all over the world.
.The body and the drum are integrated
right through the heart.
.Why play one drum when the world offers so many?
.Unrestricted the performance of music goes beyond sound alone.
Cross discipline, culture, borders, and belief, each creating a significant event.
Well… as an instrumentalist my journey started with the drum kit performing in various bands. It was my interest in the diversity of cultures across the globe that lead me to learn and study many drumming and rhythmic art forms, traveling different continents in this pursuit including Africa, East Asia, Europe, and North America. I have had the fortune to appear in numerous recordings and performances playing the drum kit, Djembe, Kpanlogo, Darbuka, Katsugi, and more.
Crossing disciplines is key to much of my work, creating new projects with choreographers, film makers, animators, and fine artists, often blurring the role of the musician in the process of working with those who speak the language of different creative disciplines.
